The Run to the Border route starts in Apple Valley and heads south to Lake Mills, IA, just across the border on roads with few towns, then back again on a different route with more services. We have run this route for several years and the salient points that are relevant are:
1. The roads are in pretty good shape and low traffic for the vast most part. Lots of soybeans, corn and farms with only a few small towns & cities along the way.
2. This is about as flat a route as you can get for this distance in this part of Minnesota with no significant hills
3. Wind usually is a factor, one way or the other.
